Harcourts Ngāruawāhia

Situated where the Waipa and Waikato Rivers meet, Ngāruawāhia is steadily growing with census population data in 2006 being recorded as 5,334 and 2018 as 6,621. New subdivisions as well as character housing within close-proximity to Hamilton, New Zealand’s fourth largest city, are attracting many to this North Waikato town. A significant place for Maori culture and history with Turangawaewae Marae as the Maori King’s base, Ngāruawāhia hosts a number of important and cultural events during the year.

For those who enjoy the outdoors not only are there the two rivers, but also the Hakarimata walkway, featuring kauri trees, streams, and waterfalls. The ‘never-ending stairway’ which reaches to the summit makes this a popular fitness challenge.

If you prefer a more sedate pace there is Te Awa, the Great New Zealand River ride which goes from Ngāruawāhia to Hamilton via the impressive Perry Bridge.
